{www} Ayn Rand.

Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark. In the hopeless swamps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all, do not let the hero in your soul perish and leave only frustration for the life you deserved, but never have been able to reach. The world you desire can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

at 1,200 pages…yes, 1,200…Atlas Shrugged is the longest book I’ve ever read and  will quite possibly  be the longest ever…talk about a heavy read. a required book for one of my history classes at Carolina, i was initially overwhelmed by the length (hello, 1,200 pages!) but eventually found that i quite liked Rand’s work once it was all said and done. as a whole Atlas Shrugged is extremely philosophical, but throughout the dense texts are several golden nuggets like the quote above…

it’s of my own personal opinion that we (including myself) often give up a little too easily when it comes to our dreams & desires…all it takes is one negative comment or  a show of doubt before we quickly box up our dreams and tuck them away deep into the darkness to be forgotten. i don’t like this tendency of ours, hence my reasoning for loving this particular quote — the world you desire exists, it’s already yours…the question remains: have you reached out and grabbed hold of it yet?
