a giant ball of fire.

i love dallas clayton, i really, really do. below: another of his brilliant little poems that has me smiling on this new day…

This morning
while you were locked away
nestled deep
and dreaming of all that you might become
a giant ball of fire
crested over the hills
and rose into the sky
spilling light in all directions
providing life
for everyone
and everything beneath.

It was a glorious sight
magnificent in scope and power
free for all who cared to watch
yet it came
with no fanfare
no countdown
no songs of revelry
no parties in the street.

It arrived
set to the white noise chorus
of sprinklers,
hastily-drawn curtains
neglected alarms
and muttered curses.

It arrived
on time
with no help from computers
news networks
or non-profit organizations.

It arrived
just as it will tomorrow
and the next day after
simply
slowly
quietly
so as not to disturb you
while you are locked away
nestled deep
and dreaming of all that you might become.

happy thursday.
