if you roll every single red carpet event of the year into one epic evening of fashion, you’ve got yourself the met gala. oh. my. heavens. for those of you not inclined to fall madly in love with an exquisitely draped dress, insanely gorgeous color choice, or perfectly chosen accessory, then please forgive us for drooling and acting momentarily ridiculous as we do just that. and by us, i mostly mean my gorgeous friend mary catherine whom i’ve recently come to adore thanks to our chance meeting back in february.
mc has her own little happening blog over at lillies & sparrows — a source of daily inspiration for this gal — and she has got one (errr, two) incredible eye(s) for fashion and beautiful things. so when it came time to get all googly-eyed over last night’s UHmazeball fashions, i could think of no one better than sweet mc to give us the scoop. yay (:
oh hello sweet readers! i could not be more excited to be guest blogging for madison today about the super bowl of fashion – the met gala.
i’m mary catherine, a professional pretty things lover, and last night as the red carpet pictures rolled out, i believe my roommates had to remind me to breathe.
every year the costume institute exhibition at the met celebrates the life and work of a fashion artist and launches the exhibit with the most outre, glam, whos-who soiree. the event dances on the haute couture line and guests/designers get a little gutsy and courageous with their looks – as it’s only appropriate.
last night’s affair honored the life and work of the late alexander mcqueen. very fitting seeing as though sarah burton, the mcqeen house’s creative director, designed the wedding dress of the century last week for princess kate. be still my heart! didn’t you love?
first things first:LOVED all the homage to mcqueen.
SJP in archive mcqueen from ’95 (they were the best of friends.) she can do no wrong in my book. the neck, the beading, the color – adore.
giselle radiated in her billowing mcqueen number. so classic and simple, but that train brings the drama. perfection. and tom brady happens to be the perfect accessory (ponytail and all).
next: color, color, color! couldn’t get enough of the vibrant hues.
ginnifer goodwin looking mighty fierce in, brace yourself….topshop! tis’ true. the silhouette, her sassy short hair cut & perfection accessories (um kelly green, navy and aqua? yes please), perfect.
